Little Heroes ASD Support Group is a parent led support group for families of children who are on the autistic spectrum. Helen and Kim met on a professional level when Kim’s son Alfie was in the early days of receiving an official diagnosis of autism back in 2011. Several years later and Little Heroes is still going strong, is now a registered charity and continues to bring more and more families. They provide support and assistance for families within Southend-on-Sea and the surrounding areas from as soon as they discovered there are additional needs.
Recently, they held a picnic at Wellbeing at Garons Park where the children and their families made most of the beautiful grounds we have and of course the lovely weather!
|“It’s been great to be able to access somewhere where we do not feel judged by others. The use of Wellbeing at Garon’s Park has benefited our families that have visited in a multiple of ways, the freedom has improved their mental wellbeing, which in turn improves the quality of life for the whole family unit. The space can enable a variety of different opportunities for the families, which at times like in the current period can be extremely challenging. If the group was not able to access this secure open space then activities would have been limited to zoom sessions, this is not something that all of our parents and children can feel at ease with. Being able to access the wellbeing area has opened up opportunities to even more of the families that Little Heroes support”|
